Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Materials & Specifications

Where are the bike frames and wheels made?

TAVELO carbon frames and carbon wheels are Made in Xiamen, China. Xiamen is known internationally as the “silicon valley” of carbon bikes and all carbon related peripherals surrounding high performance bikes.

Light Bicycle wheels and accessories are Made in Xiamen, China. Being around since 2011, Light Bicycle is one of the only fully integrated carbon wheels manufacturer in China, whereby they control everything inhouse, from carbon layup, CNC drilling, engineering, and sales. Light Bicycle is considered the best of the best in regards to carbon wheels that are Made in China.

Why choose carbon over steel or titanium?

When it comes to gravel racing and all-day performance riding, carbon fibre stands in a class of its own. Unlike steel or titanium, carbon can be precisely engineered at a molecular level — allowing frame designers to tune exactly where stiffness is needed for explosive power transfer, and where compliance is needed to absorb the relentless vibrations of off-road terrain. The result is a ride that is not only faster, but smarter.

It is also the lightest material available, meaning less energy spent fighting the bike and more energy spent riding it. Whether you're deep into a gravel race or hours into an all-day adventure, that weight advantage compounds over time — and you'll feel it when it matters most. Carbon isn't just a premium material — it's the most purposeful choice for the modern gravel rider who demands both speed and endurance from their equipment.

What grade of carbon is used?

Toray grade T800 and above carbon fibre is used in the GROW frameset, including the fork and seatpost.

Can carbon be repaired if damaged?
